BIOGRAPHY

Estonian international Shooting Guard from the youth academy of KK Parnu in his country who played his first years as a professional playing and being important in both the Estonian league and the Baltic League in Rapla. His first adventure abroad came with CSU Craiova, where in the Romanian first division Paasoja averaged almost 11 points and over 2 rebounds and 2 assists per game in the 2017-18 season. The following course, Paasoja played it in the Greek second division with Psychiko, standing out as one of the best players in the league with averages of almost 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals per game. After that season, Paasoja could jump to the best team in his country, a Kalev/Cramo with which the Estonian player returned to the Baltic League having also his chance to play in the powerful VTB, where Paasoja had good games against Khimki, CSKA or Unics starting from a rotation role in his team. In the 2020/21 season Paasoja signed with Valladolid, leaving very good sensations in the league both in preseason and in the first league games, although a torn ACL left him out of the courts already in November, spending ten months out because of it. For that reason, Paasoja returned home in this season 2021/22, where under the orders of coach Lluís Riera the Estonian player not only returned to his best level, but after his recovery he played one of his best seasons as a professional. For the 22/23 season, Paasoja has signed with the Icelandic IR, where he is one of the leaders of the team.

REPORT

1.91 meters tall, Martin Paasoja stands out especially for his effort and work capacity for the team, which from the Shooting Guard position allows him to act as a perfect gear in defense. Despite this, Paasoja is not a player limited to defensive tasks, being especially outstanding in attack his ability to generate with the ball, especially in pick and roll situations, and his outside shooting. Paasoja has shot over 30% in three-pointers in 8 of his last 9 seasons, to which he adds a good ability to attack the rim both generating fromthe pick and roll and in transition or attacking closeouts, to which he adds an interesting passing ability even off the bounce, being able to act as PG without any problem by bringing the ball up and playing as the main creator of his teams. In this position of 1 he has played especially in his last 2 courses in Iceland and Estonia, growing as a player and returning with the national team in 2022. In the backcourt, Paasoja stands out especially for his high activity on the court, his defense in one-on-one situations and his ability to chase, all circumstances where he makes his big footing ability count. He is patient and waits for his moment, not rushing shots and choosing perfectly what the situation requires at each moment. He shows a good reading of the game and occupies the spaces well. He has been international since 2015 with Estonia and is fixed with the national team.
